You may be wondering, "What makes Ozone Green different?", "Why can't I just go buy one of the many air purifiers, air cleaners, or ozone generators widely available to the consumer market?".   It's true that these units may make the air smell better but they do not generate sufficient quantities of ozone to kill the source of the odors, bacteria, viruses or insects.  But don't take our word for it, take a look at the reports produced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board  which basically state that there is "evidence to show that at concentrations that do not exceed public health standards, ozone is not effective at removing many odor-causing chemicals" or "viruses, bacteria, mold, or other biological pollutants." Furthermore, its report states that "results of some controlled studies show that concentrations of ozone considerably higher than these [human safety] standards are possible even when a user follows the manufacturer’s operating instructions."

Therefore, you may be putting your health at risk with many of these machines and not ever get rid of the problem that you were trying to solve.   The ozone generating equipment used by Ozone Green generates ozone levels much higher than any of these "consumer market" machines and as a result the property that we are treating with ozone must NOT be occupied by any living being during treatment.  This includes humans, pets, plants, and fish.  During treatment, the property will be posted with "DO NOT ENTER" signs and stating that ozone treatment is in progress and that unsafe levels of ozone exist inside the property.

The required time for ozone treatment varies depending upon a number of factors including the type and intensity of odors being treated and size of the treatment area.  Generally 12 hours is adequate time to treat most odors but odors such as cigarette smoke or smoke damage resulting from a fire may take 24 hours or more to eliminate.  Autos because of the small confined area can generally be treated in just two hours even with heavy smoke odor.

Because ozone is a very unstable gas, 30 minutes to 2 hours after treatment has been completed (depending upon ventilation),  the ozone present will change molecular structure and become normal oxygen and the property will again be safe to enter - deodorized, sanitized and smelling fresh as the air after a thunderstorm.

Getting the Maximum Benefit from Ozone Treatment

Odors are the primary reason for most people to elect to have ozone treatment performed.  But what about the benefits of ozone treatment that are not sensitive to your sense of smell?   Many properties have airborne allergens, bacteria, viruses, and dust mites that you may not be able to see or smell but may certainly be affecting the way you feel.  People with respiratory problems or severe allergies may be especially sensitive to many of these.

Operating rooms in many major hospitals use ozone to sanitize operating rooms and kill all remaining bacteria after surgeries using high capacity ozone generating equipment.  The equipment used by Ozone Green can produce many of these same benefits for your property.  

Preparation is important to receive that maximum benefit from an ozone treatment.  Open all closet doors, kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors, strip beds of all linens, remove mattresses on stand them on end to permit maximum exposure to the ozone and also set all sofa cushions on their sides.  Turn off A/C and heat (if possible) but leave fan in the "on" position.  This will help circulate the ozone in addition to killing any bacteria or allergens in the air ducts. Turn on all ceiling fans to their highest setting.  If you have additional floor or table fans available place these in areas where there is little or no air flow.

Correct problems before treatment

If you have a mold or mildew problem, make sure the source of any water leaks has been corrected prior to treatment.  

If one of the odors being treated is pet urine, Ozone Green can spot treat carpeting to neutralize the odor in small areas.  If this a widespread problem, the carpet may need to be removed prior to treatment,  then the ozone will effectively kill the odor remaining on flooring or concrete prior to installing new carpet and/or pad.  Many times the main source of these odors are in the pad underneath the carpet which prevents the ozone from reaching the source of the odor.  In these cases, surface odors will be removed from the carpet but may reappear a day or two after treatment since the main source of the odor is in the carpet pad.
